How long does a surf class last?
At BCN Surf School, we believe that 1 hour and 30 minutes is the ideal time to learn to surf without getting tired. We've found the perfect balance between giving you a complete and fun educational experience without exhausting you.
Our standard class length is designed so that you can absorb the key concepts, practice in the water and enjoy the thrill of surfing without feeling exhausted. It is important that you feel energetic and excited throughout the session so that you can make the most of each wave.

What to bring to a surf course?
Preparing for a surf class is key to fully enjoying this exciting experience. Here we tell you what to bring:
- Swimsuit: First and foremost is your swimsuit. Essential to wear under your wetsuit and to keep you comfortable while surfing.
- Sunscreen: The sun can be intense at the beach, so don't forget to apply sunscreen before heading out on the water. Protect your skin from UV rays and avoid burns.
- Towel: After fun in the sea, you'll need a towel to dry off and keep the sand away.
- Water and snacks: Stay hydrated. Bring a bottle of water to drink between the waves and some light snacks to recharge.
- Change of clothes: At the end of class, you will want to change out of wet clothes. Bring dry, comfortable clothes to wear afterwards.

When you check the swell forecast, you'll see several important data, such as sea direction, wave period, wind, and more. To simplify it, a good indicator to follow is the "energy" of the waves. If the energy is above 15, you will usually find good waves to surf. This number will give you a quick idea of the quality of the surf on that day.
