We’re a surf school based in Barceloneta with a traveller’s soul: we go wherever the best waves on the coast are breaking.
Over 20 years on a board
Barcelona isn’t famous for waves. We’ve spent years proving otherwise. At BCN Surf School we’ve been teaching people to surf in Barcelona since 2015, but our story with the sea goes back much further: early alarms checking the forecast, driving down the coast chasing storms, and turning that passion into a way of life and, above all, into a community: the BCN Surf School tribe.
Do you know the best part of this job? Watching someone catch their first wave and turn around looking for the person who taught them. We believe surf is for everyone, at any age and from any level. That’s why we look after every class, with small groups and a friendly approach so you learn safely and enjoy yourself from your very first whitewater.
A mobile school: we go to the best beach of the day
The sea changes every day, and so do we. We’re a mobile surf school: every morning we check the swell and wind forecast and head to the beach on the Catalan coast with the best conditions. That way you always surf in the best possible spot, and not the other way around.
Our base is on Somorrostro Beach, in Barceloneta. If there are waves there, the class is there; and if not, we move and take you.
Qualified instructors and great vibes
Our whole team is made up of qualified instructors who speak Spanish, Catalan and English. When you come, ask for Gonzalo or Pau: one can smell a good set coming before it shows in the forecast, and the other celebrates your first wave louder than you do. We take your safety and your progress very seriously, but never lose the smile: you come to the water to learn and to have a good time.
Much more than surf lessons
As well as surf lessons and courses, at BCN Surf School you’ll find surfskate, summer camps and after-school activities for kids, birthdays, stag and hen parties, team building and experiences for groups. Whatever you do, you take away the essence of the school: sea, community and good vibes.
