The forecast tells you what should be out there; the webcam shows you what is out there. This is our wall of cameras for the whole coast, from Narbonne to Valencia, ordered north to south, with the French ones in their own corner at the end of the list. Every camera opens in a new tab, on its operator’s official site.
The local’s trick: don’t look at a snapshot: watch the camera for 2-3 minutes. Mediterranean sets come in bursts: the sea can look flat right between two of them. Be patient, the camera doesn’t charge by the minute.

Is there a live webcam of the Barcelona beaches?
Yes: the Ajuntament de Barcelona runs six official cameras of the city beaches (Somorrostro, Bogatell, Nova Icària, Port Olímpic…), which are exactly the ones we check for urban surf. The classic private cameras of Barceloneta come and go: when one is up and running again, we’ll add it to the list.
How do I know if there are waves right now without going to the beach?
Combine two things: the forecast for the Barcelona point (it tells you what should be there) and the webcam of the spot (it shows you what is there). Watch the camera for a couple of minutes straight: Mediterranean sets come in bursts and a single snapshot is misleading.
Why do the cameras open on another website?
Every webcam belongs to its operator (tourist offices, town councils, clubs or specialised portals) and the right thing to do is watch it at home, with their player. We sort out the map for you; the credit for the cameras is theirs.
