Which board suits you
Buying used works out well if you know what you are looking at. This is what we tell a student who asks:
Less than a season in
Soft-top or funboard, 7 foot and up, 60 litres or more. It floats, it forgives mistakes and it lets you catch waves from day one. A small pretty board will only get you frustrated.
Once you paddle and get past the whitewater
Funboard or mini-malibu, 6'6" to 7'6", 40 to 55 litres. This is the step where most people get stuck, by going small too soon.
Once you turn on the face
Shortboard or fish, and there the litres go with your weight and with the waves here, which are small. In the Mediterranean nearly everyone rides less volume than would suit them.
And one thing the photos never show: always check whether it has repairs and where. A ding on the deck gets fixed; a crushed rail or a badly set fin box is not worth it. If you are unsure, ask us and we will tell you what we think — we take nothing from the sale.
How it works
You look
Every listing shows type, dimensions, litres, condition and price. No guessing.
You write
You fill in the form on the listing and it reaches the seller, who replies to you directly.
You meet
The price, the handover and the payment are between the two of you. We do not get involved and we charge nothing.
What we are not
We are not party to the sale. We take no commission, we do not handle payment, we ship nothing and we do not answer for what gets sold: this is a noticeboard, like the cork board by the door, and whoever sells is the one who answers for their board. Meet somewhere public and look at the board before you pay.
Selling a board?
Listing is free and there is no commission. We ask for your email so we can pass messages on to you, and nothing else. Post your listing.
Listings expire
After 60 days a listing drops off on its own. If your board is still for sale, you renew it with one click from your panel. We would rather have a short, honest board than a huge one full of boards sold two years ago.
Second-hand surf gear
Wetsuits, fins, board bags and everything else that piles up in the garage after a few years of surfing. From people nearby, with the size and the fin system up front so you know whether it fits before you write.
And if you want to try before you buy
In our lessons we use every kind of board and we let you try the one that fits you. Getting out of the water knowing what works for you saves you buying the wrong board. You can also look at the session photos or the surf forecast.
Do you charge anything?
No. Not the seller and not the buyer. This is here so the site is useful to people who surf in Barcelona, not to take a cut.
Can you tell me whether a board suits me?
Yes, just ask. We take nothing from the sale, so what we tell you is not coloured by that.
Are you liable if the board turns out bad?
No, and it is worth being clear about it: we are not party to the sale. Look at the board in person before you pay.
How long does a listing last?
60 days. Then it comes down on its own, and you can renew it from your panel if it is still for sale.
Can I sell wetsuits or fins?
Boards only for now. If this works, we will widen it.
